DIRECTORS
Nicholas Bianchi: B.Ed. M.S.Ed. OCT
Nicholas is a former principal with the Toronto Catholic District School Board. Currently, he is working in the teacher preparation program at Niagara University in Ontario and has been an adjunct professor for the Professional Seminar Course. Nicholas is presently a field supervisor for teacher candidates in their practicum placements.
Nicholas’ teaching experience include being a guidance counsellor where he developed a keen interest in mental health.This interest and his extensive reading on spirituality have resulted in the development of a ‘Mindfulness’ workshop for schools. As a principal, Nicholas was committed to student success and through his leadership, his school became a Professional Learning Centre for the family of schools in his area.
He was a recipient of the Toronto Catholic Principals’ and Vice-Principals’ Association Leader in Catholic Education Award for the professional leadership he demonstrated both in his school and in the greater Board community as well as for his positive and affirming relationships with teachers, students and parents.
Nicholas is dedicated to the professional development of teachers through his work at Niagara. He has extensive experience in interviewing for various teaching and business positions for the Toronto Catholic District School Board.
Most recently, Nicholas has screened applications and interviewed potential teacher candidates for the Vinn schools in Viet Nam.
Mary Valtellini: B.Ed. M.Ed. OCT
Mary is a former principal with the Toronto Catholic District School Board and former adjunct professor in education at York University. Presently, Mary is a field supervisor for teacher candidates at Niagara University during their practicum placements.
Mary has a wide range of leadership experience at the school and board level. She has been involved in strategic planning for school improvement and student success. Mary has qualifications in special education and has chaired the IPRCs at the board level. Most recently, Mary has been very active in TCDSB interviews for teachers, educational assistants and for business positions.
Mary has been on various volunteer organizations some of which are: a member of the TCDSB negotiating team for teachers, and vice-president of the TCDSB’s Principal and Vice-Principal Association. She is very active in RTO/ERO- Retired Teachers of Ontario where she has served as President for the RTO/ERO District 23, as the Associate Editor for the ‘STONY’ Newsletter for District 23, as a member of the Provincial PAC (Political Advocacy Committee) RTO/ERO, and represented District 23 at Senate Provincial meetings.
Most recently, Mary has screened and interviewed teachers for the Vinn schools in Viet Nam.
Carmela Vitale
Carmela is a highly qualified and experienced educator. She holds two masters degrees- one in administration for education and one in religious education. Carmela has specialist qualifications in Guidance and Special Education.
Carmela has honed her skills in teaching through her positions as a classroom teacher, a curriculum consultant writing curriculum and mentoring teachers, and as a principal with administrative and leadership responsibilities. At the post-secondary level, Carmela has been working with Niagara University in its Ontario teacher education campus serving in various positions which include field supervisor for the teacher candidates in their practicum placements; a course lecturer for Ontario educational law, literacy, methodology of teaching, diversity, Catholic education, and assessment of student learning; and as the administrator for the Additional Qualifications Program.
On an administrative level at Niagara University, Carmela has worked on writing reports in preparation for the accreditation of the Ontario programs for the Ontario College of Teachers and the Ontario Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Development.
Carmela has experience inservicing international educators and administrators from China through the SuOn organization.
EVENTS!
Educational Links Group Inc. has had the privilege of working with the SILONG International Education Services Corporation located in Oakville to provide professional development to educators and administrators from China. Our consultants designed the presentations to meet the needs and requests of the visiting groups, and the dialogue and discussion that occurred during the sessions were most enriching for all, including the presenters!
